OPG offers renewable energy contracts
              Ontario Power Authority has approved a list of more than 500  applicants for Feed-in-Tariff energy to Aboriginal groups, municipal and public  sector entities and community participants.
The contracts represent 123.5 megawatts of power - enough renewable energy to power some 15,000 homes.
Among the successful applicants are a number of City of Toronto, Halton, Peel and York regions municipal and community organizations.
Mississauga to host 2016 Summer Games
          Sport Alliance Ontario has selected the City of Mississauga  to be the official host of the 2016 Ontario Summer Games. These will take place  August 11 to 14, 2016.
Land donated to regional forest
              The Drysdale family has donated 55 hectares in the Town of  Whitchurch-Stouffville to York Region under its Greening Strategy.
The two parcels of land will be known as the Drysdale Woods Tract and will be open to the public within the next few months.
York Regional Forest comprises 2,300 hectares of protected land, including 18 properties and over 120 kilometres of hiking trails, which are available to residents and visitors.
York Region begins water/ wastewater master plan
          York Region has posted a notice of study commencement for  its 2015 Water and Wastewater Master Plan. The study will help to develop a  longterm, sustainable servicing strategy for supplying safe drinking water and  treating wastewater in York Region to support its growth to 2041 and beyond.  Recent provincial forecasts suggest that by 2041, the region’s population will  reach 1.79 million and employment will grow to 900,000.
