            Here are a few affordable ways you can keep cool in Newmarket, Aurora and East  Gwillimbury during the heatwave of the next few days: 
  
            Newmarket
          
            - Tim Hortons Water Feature at Riverwalk Commons, 200  Doug Duncan Dr. - The large open space outside the Newmarket Community Centre  and Lions Hall is home to an outdoor stage and water feature during the summer  season. Open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. 
              
             
            - Rogers Spray Pad, 170 London Rd. (behind Canadian  Martyrs Catholic School) - One of the first spray pads in Newmarket and  previously known as the Rogers Wading Pool, it was redesigned and  reconstructed. Operates from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. 
              
             
            - Upper Canada Mall, 17600 Yonge St. - Get a head start  on back-to-school shopping, visit the Town of Newmarket's Recreation Pop Up  Shop and participate in free activities, take your children to the kids’ play  area or grab a bite to eat in the food court. Open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.  Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. 
              Aurora
              
               
            - Visit the Town of Aurora Museum, 22 Church St. - In  celebration of the Year of Sport in Aurora, the inaugural exhibition, A Legacy  of Sport, is on display and examines the long connection between recreation and  the municipality. Inside the Aurora Cultural Centre. Open Tuesday from 10 a.m.  to 4 p.m., Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday to Saturday from 10  a.m. to 4 p.m. 
              
               
            - Stronach Aurora Recreation Complex, 1400 Wellington St.  E., - It's air conditioned and there's a pool. Enough said. Open Monday to  Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday  and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. 
              
               
            - Aurora Family Leisure Complex, 135 Industrial Pkwy. N.  - Enjoy the air conditioning, go for a dip in the indoor pool, play in the  gymnasium or try the rock climbing wall. Open from 5:45 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday  to Thursday, 5:45 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. 
              
               
            - Splash pads at Town Park (at the Wells and Mosley  streets intersection) and Ada Johnson Park (near the Hartwell Way and Conover  Avenue intersection) - Open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. 
             
          
          
            East Gwillimbury
            
          
          
            - There are several splash pads in the municipality,  including sites at Parkway (on Oak Avenue) and Harvest Hills (near the Harvest  Hills Boulevard and Woodspring Avenue intersection) parks, and the Holland  Landing Community Centre (19513 Yonge St.) - Open from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.  daily. 
              
               
            - Picnic shelters at Anchor and Mount Albert Community  parks - Rent a sheltered area for a splendid outdoor meal. The shelters are  available for $26.75 per day (9 a.m. to 8 p.m.). To rent a shelter, call  905-478-3826. 
              
               
            - Visit the Mount Albert (19300 Centre St.) or Holland  Landing (19513 Yonge St.) branches of the East Gwillimbury Public Library -  Pick up a book or participate in the many kid, adolescent, or adult activities.  Open Tuesday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.,  and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
