The incidence of unvaccinated people is high

The city will also implement a mandatory vaccination policy for all employees after Toronto announced it would require all employees to be fully vaccinated by the end of October.

Maurizio Bevilacqua, the mayor of Wang, said he had recently contacted Dr Karim Kurji, York's health officer, to find out what he thought of the directive and was told that the city should do so, given concerns about the Delta variant, CP24 reported.

Mayor Bevilaqua said he had instructed staff to begin developing mandatory vaccination policies for all city employees. "Frankly, we cannot afford defectors in this war against the epidemic," he said. Therefore, as mayor, I have a responsibility to ensure that all necessary measures are taken to save the lives of the people.

While some businesses, like Ontario's public service, allow unvaccinated people to take routine tests rather than face penalties, many other levels of government and business have introduced vaccine requirements for their employees.

It is not clear what form Wang's vaccine policy will take for employees, but Mr Bevilaqua said he wanted to keep employees aware of what was about to happen.

York District Health Officer Coogee said the mandatory vaccine policy was reasonable for many employers in the face of the Delta variant. He said the York District Public Health Department was also considering additional restrictions, such as active screening at day care centres and extending the school's mask requirements to kindergarten students.

"The situation is changing rapidly and we need to be flexible in dealing with it," he said. Contact with investigators is busy, and we see cases at large gatherings and family gatherings, with 9.8 cases per 100,000 people vaccinated; We have given people ample opportunity to be vaccinated on a voluntary basis. It is prudent to consider vaccination policies in accordance with other things that the Chief Health Officer has said, such as health and education.
