As many of you already know, the Town of Aurora is undergoing an exciting transformation in our historical downtown area. The current revitalization efforts are concentrated on the Cultural Precinct, a three-block area bounded by: Mosley Street, Metcalfe/Church Street and Yonge Street.

This revitalization, through projects such as the Aurora Armoury (underway) and Library Square (set to commence in the spring), will attract tourism, enhance the quality of life for residents and expand cultural resources in the community.

The historic Aurora Armoury located at 89 Mosley St. is in the final stages of its restoration, turning the former military drill shed into a world-class training facility and community space. This newly renovated space will be the new home of the Canadian Food and Wine Institute at Niagara College, right here in the heart of downtown Aurora.

Recently town council, the town’s executive leadership team and representatives from Niagara College were given a tour of the facility, anticipated to open this fall. And let me tell you, it looks amazing! Stay tuned for the official opening when members of the public will be invited to join us for a formal ribbon cutting and open house.

The Canadian Food and Wine Institute will provide professional training opportunities for businesses and students interested in gaining knowledge in commercial brewing, viticulture and culinary arts.

Residents will also be able to access a variety of programming, including courses like "Cooking on a Budget for Seniors," "How to Cook" classes for students heading off to university and more. All taught by real industry experts!
