The City of Markham will commemorate the National Day of Mourning on Friday, April 27 at the Markham Civic Centre.

The service is held every year to honour and remember those workers who have been killed, injured or suffered illness in the workplace.

The National Day of Mourning is also an opportunity to re-commit to maintain a healthy and safe workplace and also to prevent workplace tragedies  so that each worker can return home from work safely each and every day.

The National Day of Mourning ceremony in Markham takes place at the Markham Civic Centre, 101 Town Centre Blvd. from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Great Hall.

It will feature Mayor Frank Scarpitti, members of council, Markham Fire Services Deputy Fire Chief Adam Grant, Dave Davies, CUPE Local 905 Union representative and Johanna LeRoux of Threads of Life.

All are welcome to attend.
