Speed limits in East Gwillimbury, Georgina, Newmarket, Markham reduced
Lower speed limits in effect as of April 19

You better lighten up on the gas pedal as you make your way around York Region.

The region is reducing speed limits on several roads effective April 19.

Reasons include improving traffic operations, making the speed limit consistent in the area and development.

Most of the speed reductions are taking place in East Gwillimbury.

Mount Albert Road from east of 2nd Concession to west of Leslie Street is going down to 60 km/h from 7 km/h.

Green Lane from Bathurst Street to west of Woodspring Avenue and from east of Yonge Street to Woodbine Avenue is dropping to 70 km/h from 80 km/h.

Holland Landing Road from Bathurst, extending 215 metres north, is being reduced to 60 km/h from 70 km/h.

Leslie from Doane Road, extending 860 metres north, is going down to 60 km/h from 80 km/h.

McCowan Road, from Mount Albert Road to north of Mill Road, is dropping to 60 km/h from 80 km/h.

Speed limits are being reduced at several locations in both East Gwillimbury and Georgina.

Ravenshoe from the Queensway South to Thornlodge Drive is dropping to 60 km/h from 70 km/h.

Ravenshoe from Thornlodge, extending 450 metres east, is going down to 60 km/h from 80 km/h.

Ravenshoe from 240 metres east of Ravencrest to 480 metres east of Ravenshoe is dropping to 60 km/h from 80 km/h.

Woodbine from Glenwoods to south of the Highway 404 off-ramp is being reduced to 70 km/h from 80 km/h.

In Georgina, Metro Road from Salvation Army Road to South Drive is dropping to 50 km/h from 60 km/h.

In King Township, Highway 27 from King-Vaughan Road to south of Oliver Emerson Avenue is going down to 70 km/h from 80 km/h.

Highway 27 from south of Oliver Emerson to south of King Road is being reduced to 60 km/h from 80 km/h.

In Newmarket, Mulock Drive from Bathurst to west of Yonge is dropping to 60 km/h from 70 km/h.

In Markham, Woodbine Avenue from north of Major Mackenzie Drive to north of Victoria Square Boulevard is going down to 60 km/h from 70 km/h.

When speed limits are changed on regional roads, a sign bearing the word “new” is placed above each speed limit sign at the beginning of the speed zone.

The “new” sign remains in place for about 60 to 90 days.
