Vaughan to support revised development at OMB

NRU
April 11, 2018

At its April 4 meeting, Vaughan committee of the whole considered a final report recommending council advise the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal that it supports, in principle, applications by Islamic Shia Ithna-Asheri Jamaat of Toronto for official plan and zoning by-law amendments for lands west of Bathurst Street, south of Rutherford Road.

Islamic Shia Ithna-Asheri Jamaat proposes to develop two apartment buildings—six and eight storeys—with 283 dwelling units, 60 townhouses, a three-level parking structure, a two-storey private school, and amenity areas. The original proposal for two 17-storey residential apartment buildings and 61 condominium townhouses was appealed to the Ontario Municipal Board in 2017 due to council’s failure to make a decision on the applications.
