Markham 6-figure club explodes by over 67 per cent in just 2 years
Mayor Frank Scarpitti makes just under $200,000 at $195,373.93

The number of Markham city employees making over $100,000 a year has skyrocketed more than 67 per cent in just the last two years climbing from 220 workers in 2015 to 368 in 2017.

That’s according to recently released official province of Ontario salary disclosure data.

The number of workers on the so-called “sunshine list” rose to 290 in 2016 from 220 in 2015 when the number of firefighters went from 73 employees to 117.

Leading the list again this year was chief administrative officer Andrew Taylor who was paid $272,477.40.

Also making over $200,000 were commissioners Trinela Cane (community and corporate services) and Brenda Librecz (community services) each of whom was paid the same amount of $216,047.25.

Rounding out the $200,000 club in the City of Markham was city solicitor Catherine Conrad who earned $210,750.66.

John Baird, who retired last year after a long career with the city and was commissioner of development series, was paid $183,029.49.

Fire Chief Dave Decker was paid $180,718.79.

Mayor Frank Scarpitti took home nearly $200,000 in compensation coming in just under that amount with $195,373.73 in pay in 2017 from the City of Markham.
