Newmarket Mayor Tony Van Bynen asked:

When will there be all-day, both-way train service to Newmarket?

The answer from: Scott Money, media relations and issues specialist:

By 2025, there will be all-day, two way service between Union Station and Newmarket all the way up to Allandale Waterfront GO Station in Barrie.

At this state, however, there are plans to provide 15-minute service only as far as north as Aurora GO Station during morning and afternoon rush hour.

Metrolinx is undertaking one of the largest transit expansions in North America.

We’ve already introduced new midday and evening service from Monday to Friday, in both directions between Aurora and Union Station, and more weekend service, too. There is also extra morning, afternoon and late evening train service between Bradford GO Station and Union Station. There is nearly six times as much service for passengers on the Barrie Line as there was 10 years ago.

For customers north of Aurora, there are timed bus connections to and from these communities to ensure customers have convenient access to the new train services. We are continuing to design and build new infrastructure that will bring more frequent, electrified service along the whole corridor by 2025.
