Vaughan Fire Chief Larry Bentley retiring after nearly 4 decades

After nearly 40 years with the Vaughan Fire and Rescue Services, the last 5 as chief, Larry Bentley is retiring.
The chief's last day will be May 31.
Bentley joined the Vaughan Fire and Rescue Services in 1979 and became a captain in 1990, a platoon chief in 1996, deputy chief in 2006 and fire chief in 2013.
He was the first Vaughan firefighter to be promoted to the top position in the local fire service.
"I want to express my sincerest gratitude to Fire Chief Larry Bentley for his long-standing and unwavering commitment to our community. His leadership has had a significant impact on Vaughan Fire and Rescue Services and he will be deeply missed," Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua said.
The City of Vaughan will undertake a recruitment process for the hiring of a new fire chief.
