A discarded cigarette is the “probable” cause of a condo rooftop terrace fire in Thornhill, Vaughan District Fire Chief Jerry Nicosia said.
The fire, which broke out around the dinner hour March 24, burned a section of fence and a small plastic storage shed on the roof of 7398 Yonge St. north of Clark Avenue.
Vaughan firefighters used an aerial truck, two pump trucks and a rescue truck to fight the fire, Nicosia said.
York Regional Police and York paramedics were also called to the scene.
A unit on the top floor was evacuated as a precaution, but there were no injuries, Nicosia said.
The fire caused between $2,000 and $5,000 damage, he said.
