The City of Hamilton has teamed up with a consortium of organizations to examine best practices from Nordic countries on the delivery of affordable, accessible and sustainable housing.
The "learning partnership" between the city and Nordic organizations is funded through Nordic Innovations, an initiative of the prime ministers of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Sweden and Norway, with no financial contribution by the city.
"From the research we have undertaken, the Nordic countries are well advanced in sustainable, affordable housing," Hamilton economic development director Glen Norton stated in a new release announcing the partnership this month. "We believe this is an unbelievable opportunity to set the housing agenda in an open, innovative and cooperative direction."
