Charles Brant asked:
Why was the biggest terminal built at Yonge and Highway 7 with no thought around pedestrian access? There is not one sidewalk for people to use.
The answer from Marine Guthrie-Peart, corporate communications adviser, corporate communications, corporate services, Region of York:
YRT has contacted the Town of Richmond Hill and the private landowner multiple times regarding pedestrian accesses to/from the Richmond Hill Centre Terminal.
To date, no action to address the connection to the terminal has been completed. However, with the construction of the rapidway and a connection to the terminal, there may be plans to build pedestrian access into the terminal.
The Yonge Street Bus Rapid Transit project will see a shared-use path installed this year from the Richmond Hill Terminal to Highway 7. A second shared-use path will be constructed to Yonge Street toward the end of the project (around 2020).
