Family Day is a great day to hang out and let your munchkins know how much you love them. The folks at York Region invite you to share the love by enjoying local events and scenic destinations. They invite you to get your camera ready for the 11th annual Family Day on Feb. 19 and show the world why you #LOVEYR. You may even win a prize.
“From small towns and rural villages to suburban neighbourhoods and city centres, York Region is a mosaic of geographical communities, each offering something unique for families,” said Wayne Emmerson, York Region chairman and CEO, in a news release.

Family Fun Day in the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum and Community Centre. Treat your sweet tooth to fresh local maple syrup and check out the activities in the heritage buildings. New this year, in partnership with York Regional Forest, free snowshoe walks at the Hollidge Tract. Registration is required for snowshoe walks.
Discover the York Regional Forest. Enjoy a peaceful walk through the woods and experience the beauty of the York Region Forest, home to 100 kilometres of trails in 18 forest tracks. Winterfest in the City of Markham. Experience Winterfest at Markham Museum from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visit the new Geared for Growing interactive exhibition, participate in a variety of winter games, snowshoe around the museum’s 25-acre site or warm up in the indoor playground. Arctic Adventure 2018 in the Town of Aurora. Drop by Aurora Town Park between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for professional ice carving, winter games, skating, mini snow tubing, live entertainment, arctic golf and more. Learn more at aurora.ca/arcticadventure.

Family Day Winterfest in the Township of King. Learn to curl at the Trisan Centre in Schomberg and enjoy free snowshoe and cross-country ski rentals at Cold Creek Conservation Area. Check out the Township of King special events page.
Free swimming, skating in the Town of Newmarket. Kick off the long weekend at the Newmarket Riverwalk Commons on Feb. 17 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for indoor and outdoor fun at Newmarket’s Winterfest. Skating in the Town of Richmond Hill. Visit the Richmond Green Skate Trail and enjoy a free skate through 250 metres of winter wonderland, surrounded by trees and twinkling lights all weekend. Be sure to take your skates, as rentals aren’t available. Call 905-771-5490 ahead of your visit to learn about ice conditions.
Winterfest in the City of Vaughan. Enjoy the 29th annual Vaughan Celebrates Winterfest event on Feb. 11 at Vellore Village Community Centre. Free family-fun entertainment and activities include outdoor stage shows, midway rides and inflatables, face painting, arts and crafts, a photo booth, horse-drawn wagon rides and a free pancake breakfast.
Post a photo to Instagram using the hashtag #LoveYRcontest during the month of February and you’ll be entered into a contest for a chance to win one of three $50 MasterCard gift cards and have your photo featured in the regional newsletter, York Region Matters. Your family photo doesn’t have to be traditional, photos with your fur-baby or friends qualify too.
