On December 12th, the Jewish community, with guests, gathered to join Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua and Members of Council at the Vaughan City Hall for the Menorah Lighting Ceremony in celebration of Hanukkah. The festivity included traditional treats and drinks to compliment the crowd that was waiting for the lighting ceremony to begin. After welcoming speeches were made by the Mayor, members of Council and special guests, one of the Rabbis passed along the light with a candle lighting the Menorah, welcoming in Hanukkah. It was a very special moment for everyone present at the City Hall that day. The second ceremony took place later that month on December 17th at the Garnet A. Williams Community Centre in Thornhill.
