The Volunteer Recognition Society was thrilled with how many people were in attendance on November 28th for the Community Champions 20/20 Awards Night. Guests gathered at the Fontana Gardens Banquet Hall in Vaughan for the celebration. That night, award recipients received recognition for their 20+ years of ongoing dedication and philanthropic work. Annually, the Volunteer Recognition Society presents the awards of “the Volunteer Classic Collection Service Award”, the “Valigia D’Oro/Legacy Award” and the “Community Champions 20/20 Award”. It was a celebratory evening for all those who attended, whether they were the individuals receiving the award or friends and family members supporting the recipients. The Volunteer Recognition Society has been recognizing these individuals for over a decade now. To date, they have offered over 1, 000, 000 hours in helping others. Founder and honorary chair, Mario Ferri said,” Volunteerism is the epitome of selflessness and the conduit by which we accomplish so much for so many. Volunteering is an altruistic activity wherein individuals and organizations, such as those that were honored tonight, provide services selflessly for the betterment of others. Such individuals and organizations promote goodness and help to improve the lives of those they serve. The catalyst for their work is driven by the need that they identity. Volunteers are priceless and truly irreplaceable. Their value cannot be qualified, and their presence cannot be substituted”.
