Peel regional council has appointed a new integrity watchdog -- Principles Integrity, operated by Jeffrey A. Abrams and Janice Atwood-Petkovski.
Principals Integrity will receive $172,500 for a three-year contract, to provide integrity commissioner and lobbyist registrar services, beginning in February. They will replace Robert J. Swayze, whose contract will end Jan. 31.
A report to regional council on Thursday, Jan. 11, says the region received three submissions from — Principles Integrity, Robert J. Swayze and ADR Chambers Canada Inc., a dispute resolution company.
An evaluation committee consisting of regional staff reviewed the vendor submissions, based on experience and qualifications, references, advisory and educational approach as well as the estimated cost for services.
Abrams served as clerk for the City of Vaughan from 2008 to 2017. Prior to that, he was deputy regional clerk for York Region from 2005.
Atwood-Petkovski was the City of Hamilton’s solicitor from 2013 to 2017 and solicitor and legal commissioner for the City of Vaughan from 2006 to 2012. She was also with the City of Brampton for 15 years as director of litigation and administrative law.
The City of Mississauga also selected Integrity Principles as integrity watchdog in 2017.
