One subway to York Region down, one to go.
With the Toronto-York Spadina Subway extension now open as of Sunday, the next question on everybody's minds is: When will the Yonge Street North subway extension to Richmond Hill be built?
At least it's worth asking that question with Premier Kathleen Wynne and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on hand Friday morning to cut the ribbon in Vaughan on the just-completed extension.
The answer is -- they're working on it.
"It is in our plan. We have made a commitment to it. We will work on it and we will make it happen," said Wynne at the new York University station Friday.
"There is long-term planning that goes into these projects. The work has begun. We're not at that stage to have a firm timeline on it," said Wynne.
Trudeau said he was happy to partner with lower-tier levels of government on transit projects.
"The federal government has invested historic amounts of money in infrastructure, so we can be there for the priorities. So we can work with the provinces and municipalities involved," he said.
"What we're seeing now is what happens when the provinces, the cities and the federal government work together," Trudeau added.
