It’s a fact that 50% of fire emergencies that are called in involve homes that have fire alarms that are not working correctly and many of these emergencies involve children. On November 2nd at Maple Creek P.S in Vaughan, a grade one class was selected to participate in a program that with much potential, will aid in making our community safer. It is estimated that over 5,000 homes will be made fire safe as children will work hand in hand with their parents. The event was kicked off with Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service and Maple Lions Club with a sleepover with Sparky the dog. The children were taught much on fire safety and were welcome to share stories and ask many questions that they had in mind. The Maple Lions Club generously donated 250 sparky dogs to coincide with this program.
