Almost half of the city’s construction projects are ahead of schedule, Mayor John Tory says.
“We have a new attitude,” Tory said during a stop Tuesday in the Beaches where crews wrapped up a resurfacing project early on Lakeshore Blvd.
“We are getting projects done as quickly as we can.”
The civic leader said the city has fast-tracked 32 of its 70 road construction projects by such measures as extending work hours.
The road construction at Dundas and Parliament Sts. partially reopened with one lane in each direction on Tuesday evening - a week ahead of schedule.
TTC work on overhead wires at the intersection should be finished by early next week.
Tory said it’s important to accelerate the pace of road jobs as long as the costs, such as paying for work crews to be on the job around the clock, benefit the economy and people at the end of the day.
