Vaughan Film Festival brings Emmy-Award winning sound mixer to city

Attention budding filmmakers - the Vaughan Film Festival is bringing an Emmy Award-winning sound mixer to town to talk gunshots, explosions, footsteps and musical scores.

Frank Morrone leads the industry seminar, dubbed The Art of Mixing, at Colossus Vaughan Cinemas, 3555 Highway 7 West, Thursday, Sept. 11 at 7:30 p.m.

Morrone will discuss the ins and outs of sound mixing for Hollywood feature films and television with technical demonstrations involving music, dialogue, components and special effects.

Based in Los Angeles, Morrone has received seven prime-time Emmy nominations resulting in two wins for the ABC series’ Lost and The Kennedys.

His movie and television credits also include Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow, The Cider House Rules, Sex and the City and Boss starring Kelsey Grammer.

His current projects include the NBC hit series, Hannibal and FX’s The Strain.
