Important information about the upcoming municipal election is now just a tap away.

The city has launched a new app for mobile devices for those who want to stay up-to-date and keep informed about Vaughan’s municipal election.

The free app, called PingStreet, features information for voters including eligibility requirements to be a voter, a link for residents to see if they are on the voters’ list and contact information for the Vaughan elections team.

There’s also a link to voterlookup.ca so residents can check to see if they are on the voters’ list and a link to the city’s Twitter feed devoted to election-related topics.

Additional features, such as a list of advance voting dates and locations, will be added in the coming weeks.

It can be downloaded from the Apple App Store, Android Market and BlackBerry World. Simply enter your address or use your current location in Vaughan.

Voters go to the polls Oct. 27 to choose the city’s next mayor and council members as well as to elect local school board trustees.
