Five food establishments ticketed by public health

Public health inspectors handed out tickets for violations of the province’s Health Protection and Promotion Act at five York Region establishments last week.

The following violations were reported:

• McDonald’s at 17155 Yonge Street, Newmarket, was ticketed for failure to ensure the floor of a food-handling room was kept clean.

• Newmarket Golden Space Inc. - Renessa Newmarket located at 270 Doak Lane, was cited for failing to protect food from contamination or adulteration.

• Richview Manor, 10500 Dufferin Street, Vaughan, was in violation of failing to protect food from contamination or adulteration, failing to ensure facility surface was washed as necessary and fail to clean multi-service articles after use.

• Sunnybrook Residential Care Home, 825 Lake Dr. E., Georgina, received a summons for operating a food premise in a manner adversely affecting sanitary conditions.

• Bagel Flame Bakery, 108-126 Wellington Street West, Aurora, was closed Sept. 17 for operating with an inadequate water supply. The facility re-opened the next day.

The food premises disclosure system provides the public access to information relating to charges laid and closures made by York Region community and health services public health inspectors.

Health inspection results are available for food establishments, recreational water facilities, salons and spas in York Region.
