Meet your municipal candidates in Vaughan Ward 5

Try fun candi-dating at Thornhill Meet and Greet

A free Meet and Greet evening will be held next week for voters of Thornhill-Vaughan Ward 5 to meet their candidates for council and the school boards in this fall’s municipal election.

The meet your candidate evening will be held at Garnet A. Williams Community Centre, 501 Clark Ave. W., Thornhill Monday, Sept. 15 from 7 to 9 p.m.

Presented by The Liberal newspaper, in partnership with other community organizations such as the Vaughan Chamber of Commerce, the event will feature short, fun “candi-dating” opportunities to meet registered candidates, who will also be invited to make short campaign speeches outlining their platforms.

Registered candidates for councillor Ward 5, Josh Martow and incumbent councillor Alan Shefman have been invited, as well as registered candidates for the mayoral and regional council positions.

Invited public school trustee candidates for Wards 4 and 5, Thornhill, include Mark Bloch, Alisa Boukine, Susan Geller, Cindy Hackelberg, Joel Hertz, Rohit Malik, Simon Strelchik and Anastasia Tsouroupakis.

Cathy Ferlisi, trustee candidate for Wards 4 and 5 for the Catholic school board has also been invited.

Other communities organizations are presenting similar Meet and Greet evenings in other wards throughout September and October.

Two more are taking place next week, each organized in a slightly different format.

East Woodbridge Ward 3’s Meet and Greet, organized by The Vaughan Citizen newspaper, will be held Sept. 16 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Chancellor Community Centre, 350 Ansley Grove Rd., Woodbridge. Email Kim Champion at kchampion@yrmg.com for more information.

The Ward 4 Thornhill Meet and Greet evening is set for Oct. 2 and is being presented by the CAA.
