The location of Markham's York University campus, and more details about the project, are expected to be revealed Thursday.

An announcement is expected Sept. 11, from 2 to 3 p.m., and will include York University, York Region, the City of Markham and academic partner Seneca College.

Mayor Frank Scarpitti and Mamdouh Shoukri, President and Vice-Chancellor of York University are expected to attend.

The announcement will take place at the Remington Group Presentation Centre, 162 Enterprise Blvd. in Markham.

Markham Centre was selected June 23 as the preferred municipality, due to the city’s many amenities for students, such as improved transit, its central location and adjacency to the Markham Pan Am Centre.

York University aims to have 5,000 students at its York Region campus within five years and 10,000-20,000 within 20 years.
