Over the past three and a half years, together we have witnessed Vaughan’s incredible growth and evolution. Shovels will soon break ground for our very own Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital, completion of the subway extension is around the corner, and the 427 extension is on its way. Vaughan is a city with many blessings and the positive changes happening across our community have inspired the next chapter in our story, which was celebrated at this year’s Mayor’s Gala.
Vaughan has embarked on the Next Chapter of its journey to become a truly world class city. This was evident in the heartfelt demonstration of community spirit and generosity at this year’s Mayor’s Gala and the Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua Annual Charity Golf Tournament, the City’s premier fundraising events which have collectively raised over $2.7 million for worthy causes in our community since 2011. In an impressive demonstration of corporate leadership and generosity, 12 bidders collectively donated a record $310,000 for the live auction ‘Dinner with the Mayor” with proceeds going directly to the Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital. Over 100 community groups and charitable organizations have received support from the Mayor’s Gala and Golf fundraising events which has helped them to fulfill their very important goal of providing help and services to people who need it most. These groups are dedicated to very important work that supports youth, seniors, people with special needs, women’s centres, special education schools and sports organizations. Through generous support of the annual Mayor’s Gala and Golf Tournament, together we have been able to change lives. By remaining focused and disciplined, and guided by the principles of honesty, integrity and compassion, we have been able to touch the lives of tens of thousands of people in a very positive way, and Vaughan is a better place today because of it. Thank you for making it happen!
