Drivers should carefully plan their routes around Vaughan for the next several weeks as the city is facing a number of road closures along major routes.
All lanes of Hwy. 427, between Hwy. 7 and Zenway Boulevard, are currently closed and will remain that way for about six weeks to facilitate road improvements, according to York Region officials.
Rutherford Road, between Huntington Road and Hwy. 27, will be closed from Aug. 23 to Aug. 24 for work on the railway crossing.
Then Major Mackenzie Drive, between Pine Valley Drive and Islington Avenue will be shutdown from Aug. 29 to Sept. 1 for the relocation of 50 hydro poles.
That work is being done to allow for the future widening of Major Mackenzie Drive.
