Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville staff may be putting their renovation skills to use, again.

No bids from contractors were received by the municipality to construct accessible washrooms within a building in Memorial Park’s Stouffville Common, according to a council report.

Staff are requesting council approve they do the work. The Common area, which was used for ribfest earlier this month, was home to the park’s outdoor pool.

Town staff recently completed the renovation at 6240 Main St., which transformed the former public library turned Care and Share Thrift Shop into multipurpose space.

By enabling town staff to complete the renovation in Stouffville Common, it will make the washrooms available for use in late fall or winter, according to the report.

A few months ago, Latitude 67 Ltd. was awarded a contract to upgrade the park’s electrical system. That was completed in time for the Strawberry Festival, according to the report.

Their work will now shift to pathway improvement and new lighting for the sculpture walk and new walkway through Stouffville Common.

The project budget is $725,782 with $573,500 allocated to lighting. The remaining $150,00 will cover the washroom upgrade.

Council is expected to decide on this matter Tuesday afternoon. The meeting begins at 1 p.m. in council chambers, 111 Sandiford Dr.
