Your electronic cigarettes may no longer be welcome in town facilities.

The Town of Aurora will consider a recommendation from staff at tomorrow night’s council meeting regarding a bylaw that would prohibit the use of electronic cigarettes and vapourizers in town facilities.

The staff report states there are currently no provincial health policies regarding the use of the devices, which contain a battery, chamber containing liquid and an atomizer that heats up liquid and turns it into vapour.

Until more research is done, town staff believes it would be in the best interest of the public to ban the use of the devices on town-owned property until more research on the health impacts is available.

The issue is to be discussed further at tomorrow night’s council meeting at town hall.

New signs could help you find your way on Aurora’s parks and trail system.

The town’s trails and parks strategy will be tabled at tomorrow night’s council meeting where staff asks members of council for approval.

Following the approval of the trails master plan, in which the requirement of a signage strategy was highlighted, a study has recently been completed and the focus has switched to implementation of the strategy, according to the staff report.

The sign design strategy will not only help users find their way around parks and trails but will show what activities are allowed in the parks and update signage while consolidating information so green space is not littered with signs.

Staff suggests a phased-in approach with the most used trails first.

Council has the option to return the draft strategy back to staff for further revision.

The report will be discussed at town hall and is available at aurora.ca
