The City of Mississauga has announced the appointment of Tim Beckett as the City’s new fire chief, effective July 21.
Beckett is currently the fire chief for the City of Kitchener Fire Department, responsible for the department’s $30-million annual operating budget.
His 28 years of fire service experience include the role of fire chief for the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville and various positions at the City of Vaughan Fire Rescue Service.
“I am pleased that Tim has chosen to join Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services,” said Paul Mitcham, commissioner of community services. “He will be sure to continue the tradition of excellence in public safety established by former Chief John McDougall.”
Becket holds a bachelor of arts degree in public administration from Ryerson University and a fire protection technology diploma from the Ontario Fire College.
Beckett tweeted that he was looking forward to joining Mississauga Fire.
