York Region’s community and health services assets are in decent condition, according to a report received at last week’s council meeting.

Investments in the community and health services department are an investment in the health and well-being of York’s residents, chairperson Bill Fisch said. All together, the region is tasked with managing and maintaining close to $463 million in of community and health services assets.

Developed by a third party, the departmental report was intended to identify how well positioned York’s infrastructure is to meet current and future demand. Community and Health Services received a grade of B for its assets, which includes patient lifts, long-term care home kitchen equipment, Housing York, ambulances, other vehicles and equipment, which equates to a “good” rating on the scale.
