Residents of Thornhill-Vaughan have been enjoying two new parks that have opened in recent weeks in Ward 4.

Pioneer Park is located at 105 Valley Vista Dr., and boasts accessible junior and senior playgrounds, half-court basketball, a multipurpose play court, a game table, sandbox, central seating plaza, park shade structure and a walkway circuit lined with a number of broad leaf canopy trees to offer shade.

Heritage Park, which opened last week, features accessible junior and senior playgrounds, five-station fitness equipment, two gazebos, seating and native shade tree planting.

That park is located at 631 Valley Vista Dr., south of Major Mackenzie Drive and east of Dufferin Street.

“I am so pleased to celebrate the opening of Heritage Park in Ward 4,” said Councillor Sandra Yeung Racco.

“It is a beautiful area that will provide opportunities for residents to get active, interact with their neighbours and enjoy the outdoors. Heritage Park is another example of the city’s commitment to fostering a healthy community. This park will be a gathering place for families and friends for years to come.”
