Participation by more than 150 PowerStream employees in several cycling events during the months of May and June helped to raise nearly $68,000 in funds that are being shared by two charitable organizations -- Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
Five employee teams, comprising 29 members each, pedaled in Heart and Stroke Big Bike events held over two months in Vaughan, Barrie and Markham. Collectively the PowerStream Big Bike teams were able to raise more than $29,000 for the Heart and Stroke Foundation through donations, raffles and bake sales.
Early in June, nine PowerStream employees cycled for two days in the annual Ride to Conquer Cancer, travelling more than 200 kilometres between Toronto and Niagara Falls. Together the PowerStream team members contributed $38,453.00 to the $20 million total that 5,212 riders generated in support of Personalized Cancer Medicine at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
