What do 100 motorcyclists and the “Heart Team” at the Hospital for Sick Kids have in common? The Rev It Up for SickKids ride and their commitment to helping SickKids one ride at a time.

In 2013, the Rev It Up for SickKids board of directors made a commitment to the Hospital for Sick Kids to raise $500,000 to purchase the NIRS (Near Infrared Spectroscopy Technology). This remarkable piece of equipment is used to measure oxygen levels throughout the body and ultimately monitor the effectiveness of a child’s heart.

As an extension on their focus on cardiology, Rev It Up for SickKids remains committed to supporting Camp Oki, a summer camp for SickKids cardiac patients, under the direction of Dr. Joel Kirsh.

To date, Rev It Up for SickKids has raised over $1 million for specific areas of the SickKids Hospital through their various events and has purchased two NIRS machine.  100 per cent of all proceeds go toward SickKids Hospital.

Registration for the 3rd Annual Rev It Up for SickKids is open. To join this very special ride, the goal is to have each rider raise $1,000. If riders are unable to raise the $1,000, Rev It Up for SickKids has a program to “Sponsor a Rider”, which tops up the pledge. Their objective is having every rider who wishes to join the ride participate.

You don’t have to ride a motorcycle to participate. The team has also created opportunities to have friends and family who would like to participate, but do not ride to join in on the fun.

They can register as a passenger on a motorcycle or on their Variation Music Party Bus.

The bus will have a DJ, drinks, food, an illusionist, dancing and plenty of fun.

The Rev It Up for SickKids route will start off at the ReMax on the southwest corner of Jane and Rutherford before making its way to the Hospital for Sick Kids and finally to the Turnberry Golf Club, where the festivities will continue with live music food and drinks.
