York Gateway Farmers Market to begin 12th season

The Greater York Region Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the 12th season of the York (Gateway) Farmers Market will kick off on Saturday, June 7. The market has come a long way from the 7-8 vendors we started with back in 2003.

The 2014 Saturday Market will feature approximately 30 local vendors, including several who are founding members. In addition, the Thursday market will begin its fourth season this year and it is steadily growing.

The 2014 market runs (rain or shine) every Saturday from June 7 through Oct. 11 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and every Thursday from July 3 through Aug. 28 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The market takes place in the lot behind the Greater York Region Chamber of Commerce off Route 1 at 1 Stonewall Lane in York.

The food vendors offer fresh veggies and fruit, meats, dairy products, seafood, herbs, desserts, breads, pasta, oils and spices, prepared foods and more. Select craft products include lotions, soaps, wood goods, jewelry, candles and pottery.

Expect to see many of the following vendors every week at the Saturday market: Bumble Beads, Casco Bay Butter, Chefs Cove, Chop-Chop, Connolly's Organics, Churchill's, Ellie May's Sweet Toffee Crunch, Green Parrot Woodworks, Hubba Hubba Foods, Jimmy Milkman, Karimah's Kitchen, Lakonia Greek Products, Maine Homestead, Martha's Garden, Matt & Carol's Desserts, Pies, Pickles & Potions, River Lily Farm, Riverside Farm (two spaces), Top of the Hill Farm, Twig & Watermark Designs, When Pigs Fly, Inc., Wrights Haven Farm, Zach's Farm & Abe's Flowers (two spaces).
