The ongoing switch-over from tokens and Metropasses to the provincial Presto program goes before the Metrolinx board later this week.
Preparing the TTC for the full swap to the green card, while progressing at a slow pace, is on track for an increase in usage by late 2014.
14 subway stations are currently equipped with devices to read the Presto card, with the provincial transit agency saying an additional 12 will be compatible in the coming months, along with the entire Spadina Subway extension.
Four lines that will see the first new low-floor streetcars, Spadina, Bathurst, Harbourfront and Dundas will also be converted as the vehicles are delivered and placed into service.
Machines that will allow single purchases will also start to rollout through 2014, with Wave 2 of the process, or the balance of the network being upgraded, to be completed by 2019.
The old streetcars trundling through Toronto will not be retrofitted for Presto, meaning passengers will continue to use the current fare system.
