Jaczek to be named to Liberal cabinet: report

Oak Ridges-Markham MPP Helena Jaczek will be named Ontario's minister of community and social services today, the Toronto Star reports.

It would be the Holland Landing resident's first cabinet post.

The former York Region medical officer of health would replace Hamilton-area Liberal MPP Ted McMeekin who is moving to municipal affairs and housing, The Star says.

Jaczek easily won the riding, which includes Whitchurch-Stouffville and parts of Markham, King and Richmond Hill, for the third time in the June 12 election.

She most recently served as chair of the Liberal caucus at Queen's Park.
