The Woodbridge Village Farmers Market is back for a sixth season and this year you won’t be left asking where’s the beef?

That’s because, along with the usual fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables, you’ll also find cured meats and organic, locally raised beef for sale.

You’ll also be able to buy honey, artisanal cheeses, scones, croissants, sticky buns, butter tarts, pies, strudels and more.

The farmers market kicks off June 14 and runs every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. until October 11 in the parking lot of the Woodbridge Pool & Memorial Arena, at the corner of Hwy. 7 and Islington Avenue.

Also new this year, organizers are launching Kids Club Weekly, which aims to teach children about where food comes from and how it is grown.

The club features creative crafts, engaging activities, scavenger hunts, balloon twisting, face painting and games.

Participants can sign up to become “seedlings” and earn stickers each week toward a free pass to the Woodbridge Fall Fair. The Kortright Centre Farm and Cobs bakery are both returning to the market this year to offer locally grown, organic food and fresh-baked goods.

As always there will be a slew of special event days including Honey of a Day (June 21), Very Strawberry Day (July 5), Ontario Cheese Tasting Day (July 19) and Corn Roast Day (Aug. 9).
