Health inspectors charge food providers in Aurora, East Gwillimbury, Newmarket, Vaughan

York Region’s public health inspectors visited several local food providers last week and ticketed six under the province’s Health Protection and Promotion Act.

The following incidents were reported:

• East Side Mario’s on Bayview Avenue in Aurora was charged June 2 for not maintaining its mechnical equipment to provide sufficient chemical solution rinse;

• Thai Room on Hwy. 7 West in Vaughan was cited June 3 for failing to keep the floor of its food-handling room clean;

• Hong Phat on Rutherford Road in Vaughan was ticketed June 4 for failing to protect food from contamination or adulteration;

• Barton Retirement Centre on Leslie Street in Newmarket was charged June 5 for failing to store food on racks or shelves and maintaining its ventilation system in a manner permitting a health hazard;

• Newmarket Residence on Davis Drive in East Gwillimbury was cited June 5 for storing its utensils in a manner not preventing contamination and for operating in a manner adversely affecting a sanitary condition; and

• Wild Wing on Rutherdford Road in Vaughan was ticketed June 6 for immersing utensils in a chlorine solution of less than 100 parts per million of available chlorine.

The food premises disclosure system provides the public access to information relating to charges laid and closures made by York Region community and health services public health inspectors.

Health inspection results are available for food establishments, recreational water facilities, salons and spas in York Region.
