 
 Delayed opening of Vaughan’s sports fields due to poor grass conditions

Are  you looking to get out and be sporty in Vaughan? You may have to wait awhile.
    
    The  City of Vaughan said Monday the opening of some of its sport fields has been  delayed because of poor grass conditions caused by the December ice storm and  terrible winter.
  
    Officials  estimate some fields have lost between 30 to 90 per cent of their grass cover,  and crews trying to get the grass growing again.
  
    Twelve  of the 200 fields are now off limits for the next eight to 10 weeks so that the  fields can meet the standards required for safe play.
  
    The  following fields are closed:
- Father Bressani - premium
    - Father Ermanno (east field) - premium
    - Le Parc - premium
    - Maple Community Centre - premium
    - Princeton Gate - 9v9
    - Twelve Oaks - senior
    - Jack Pine Park - mini
    - Freedom Trail - mini
    - Carville Mills - mini
    - Sonoma Heights - senior
    - Patricia Kemp
    - Dufferin District No. 1 and No. 2
  
    The  rest of the fields are expected to open on May 12.
  
    The  city said baseball diamonds are scheduled to open on Monday, with the exception  of Vaughan Grove diamonds No. 1 and No. 2, and Concord Thornhill Regional Park  diamond No. 2, due to construction.
