Thornhill MPP worried about provincial debt

PCs say budget will hike Ontario's debt

Thornhill PC MPP Gila Martow’s biggest criticism of the Liberal government’s budget concerns higher debt levels.

“If you wonder why Ontario PC Leader Tim Hudak focuses on the province’s debt and the deficit and the need for job creation, this is why,” said Ms Martow in a release, hours after the budget was released yesterday.

“Premier Kathleen Wynne has been given a year to prove she was different than Dalton McGuinty, and today she proved she was the same, if not worse.”

Ms Martow commented following the release of the 2014 Liberal budget that increases spending, hikes an already historic provincial debt, and - says the PC Party - will add to the growing unemployment problem.

“Tim Hudak’s Million Jobs Plan is uniquely positioned to put Ontario on the right track by balancing the budget and paving the way with the creation of a million new jobs,” said Ms Martow. “Ontario needs to see his plan rolled out immediately.”

In less than a year since Ms Wynne became premier, the provincial debt has climbed to $290 billion, the highest in the country, and the deficit is increasing to $12.5 billion - which is more than all other provinces combined.
