May is the month to celebrate Asian and South Asian Heritage and there are two events happening in Vaughan to mark the occasion.

First up, Friday is Bollywood Movie Night at city hall, 2141 Major Mackenzie Dr.

WEConnect Community Services is hosting a free screening of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge in the multi-purpose room starting at 5:30 p.m.

The 1995 romantic comedy is considered by many critics to be a must-see Bollywood film.

The evening’s festivities also include a Bollywood sari dress competition, a photo area, prizes and guest speakers. Food and refreshments will be available.

Then, on Saturday, you can check out the South Asian Heritage Celebration at Vellore Village Community Centre, 1 Villa Royale Ave., from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The ninth annual event, presented by Human Endeavour, features cultural performances, social enterprise displays, an information and health fair, contests and a kids cultural dress show. Refreshments will be provided.
