Earth Hour volunteers feat. Regional Councillor Deb Schulte

Celebrating Earth Hour, the City of Vaughan hosted a special night out for families beginning at 6:30pm and continuing throughout the scheduled “Lights Out” hour of 8:30-9:30pm. The community-wide celebration was held in partnership with PowerStream and featured a number of activities geared to helping residents and businesses think about “ways they can reduce their impact on the environment through energy conservation.” Visitors were able to participate in a lantern making activity, play a game of environmental jeopardy, take the “lantern walk” and then enjoy entertainment and refreshments while hearing about the Community Green Hero Awards. Earth Hour is celebrated around the world in more than 7000 cities and Vaughan residents, together with the City of Vaughan, showed their pride as they happily participated in this worldwide initiative.
