The wintry weather isn't over yet.

Parts of the Toronto area were hit by a combination of snow and rain on Tuesday morning, as a storm moved northeast across Lake Ontario.

Although precipitation fell as rain across most of the city, parts of Brampton, Barrie, Vaughan and Richmond Hill saw wet, heavy snow.

The return to wintry weather was part of a low pressure storm system moving from central Ohio northeast across the lake and into southeastern Ontario.

The temperature dipped near 0 C in areas including Brampton and Barrie overnight, so the precipitation fell as snow.

The temperature is expected to hover around the freezing mark, and Environment Canada predicts an accumulation of 2 to 5 centimetres. In Haliburton and Minden, the weather agency said that 10 centimetres of snow could fall.

A total of 15 to 25 millimetres of rain is expected to fall over the warmer parts of southeastern Ontario. Up to 35 millimetres may fall predicted in areas along the coast of Lake Ontario.

Officials warned drivers that wet snow and heavy rain may lead to slippery roads and low visibility.
