City of Vaughan council approved a new community garden policy at its meeting April 8 that provides guidelines for where they can be created and how they can be maintained.

The new policy intends to improve community image, civic engagement, environment, biodiversity, physical activity and healthy food. The city currently has three community gardens: Baker Sugarbush Heritage Park, Michael Cranny House and Vaughan Fire Hall #7-1.
