A pair of York Region Transit users will enjoy a free ride.
YRT/Viva riders Paul Go and Na Ra Shin received Presto fare card credits of $250 from Presto’s One Millionth Customer Contest, which ran Feb. 10 to March 10.
Presto reached the 1-million transit riders milestone.
Presto is the electronic fare card used across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area and Ottawa.
According to Metrolinx, Presto usage continues to grow.
About 500,000 transit users signed on to Presto in the last year.
Presto and local transit agencies work to build a more convenient and integrated transportation system, Presto executive vice-president Robert Hollis said.
“Every day, we see more and more transit riders using Presto to travel seamlessly across multiple transit agencies,” he said. “The introduction of one card for use across the entire GTHA is one of the biggest advancements in the region’s transportation system.”
PRESTO will become available this fall to more transit users when the TTC becomes part of the program, Mr. Hollis added.
Presto makes the travel and commuting experience easier than ever, Metrolinx CEO and president Bruce McCuaig said, adding the milestone of 1 million customers demonstrated we’re on our way to a more integrated region.
The electronic fare system has been deployed across GO Transit, Hamilton Street Railway, Burlington Transit, Brampton Transit, Oakville Transit, Miway, York Region Transit, Durham Region Transit and OC Transpo.
