The staff at Al Palladini Community Centre was joined by Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua and members of council to celebrate the centre’s 25 years in the community.

The City of Vaughan hosted a community celebration to mark the 25th anniversary of the Al Palladini Community Centre Saturday.

Free family activities scheduled throughout the day included skating, swimming, face painting and fitness centre access.

Winners of the “25 for 25 year” Anniversary Challenge were announced during the official ceremony. The challenge, held during the week of March 30 to April 4, encouraged residents to get active. It consisted of fitness and aquatics components highlighting various cardio and swim activities.

The Al Palladini Community Centre - formerly West Vaughan - opened its doors in 1989. In 2001, an expansion of the existing fitness centre was completed. The centre features the Martini and Underhill arenas, a fitness centre, a 25-metre, six-lane lap pool and multi-purpose rooms and continues to provide a wide variety of recreational programs and drop-in activities for all ages and abilities. From swimming and sports to culinary arts and science and technology, the community centre offers opportunities to keep residents both active and inspired.
