Over 650 guests were in attendance including many community leaders and dignitaries. As part of this year’s entertainment Michael “Pinball” Clemons was the emcee and keynote speaker for the evening.
A number of awards were handed out throughout the evening.
Rudolph (Rudy) Bratty, owner of The Remington Group Inc. and Brattys LLP, was presented with the Philanthropic Business Person of the Year Award by Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua, in recognition of his exceptional community involvement and outstanding achievements.
Bratty is one of Canada’s most successful real estate developers and is well known for his contributions to charity. The Remington Group, a family-run development group has been at the forefront of development in municipalities such as Vaughan, Markham, Mississauga and Brampton for over 50 years.
“For 25 years the Vaughan Chamber of Commerce has been recognizing the best in business achievements and tonight is no exception,” said Paula Curtis, president and CEO of the VCC. “Our city of Vaughan has been built through business excellence and is a city that loves to celebrate.”
The VCC has an important role in the community, Curtis explained.
“We are here to serve with and for the business community, though providing a voice with and to all levels of government; to provide community as a place where relationships are started and strengthened and woven through everything we do is culture, whether its supporting local cultural and special interest groups, diversity initiatives or companies who are engaged in international business,” said Curtis.
