That is some high quality H20.

York Region received a 100-per-cent inspection rating in 2012 as documented in the 2013 annual drinking water system summary report.

The region’s drinking water was also given a perfect score for samples meeting provincial water quality standards.

The annual summary report serves as an overview of the region’s efforts to provide high-quality drinking water to its communities through programs intended to meet the province’s regulatory standards for drinking water.

More than 37,000 water tests were performed last year across all of York’s nine municipalities to ensure compliance with the standards.

As mandated under the Safe Drinking Water Act 2002, the annual summary report details water quality and quantity data and outlines water system investments and expenses.

York’s results are reflected in the Ontario chief drinking water inspector’s annual report, which offers an overview of drinking water quality in Ontario and Ministry of the Environment inspection results from April 2011 to March 2012.

York Region consistently meets or surpasses the requirements of the Ministry of the Environment, said Richmond Hill Regional Councillor Vito Spatafora, chairperson of environmental services. In 2012, York Region achieved 100 per cent on Ministry inspections and on samples meeting provincial water quality standards, he said.
