- Richard Lorello has written to CRA asking for clarification as to where these funds have gone and has asked CRA to intervene and get them redirected to the legitimate destination – the Mackenzie Foundation.
- Lorello also questions why the City of Vaughan has not asked Rev Canada to do the same and force the VHCF to redirect the funds to the rightful destination.
- He also refers to charitable foundation regulations under the Income Tax Act - how the funds are to be spent and notes that there are some months missing from the financial reports. This makes it difficult to understand what’s happened to the funds in question.
- In a past issue of the Toronto Star, the president the VHCC, Michael De Gasparis stated to Greg Sorbara that he did not agree that the funds were obliged to go to Mackenzie Health. The funds were to be used to develop activity surrounding the hospital.
- City of Vaughan then stated that all collaboration with the VHCC had been terminated included the surrounding development of the hospital centre.
- However, millions are still missing and Lorello believes the only way to resolve this and get the funds to the hospital is through the forcefulness of the CRA.
